Your guide to fishing in Kent
Fish Kent -
Pegwell Bay is where the river Stour enters the English Channel. The water gradually increases in depth from the mouth of the river the closer you get to Ramsgate.
Fishing can be productive throughout the year with a good mix of species falling from this marque.
Bass move in and out of the bay during the spring and summer with some good fish falling each year.
Winter brings Codling, Whiting and Dogfish with flatties also showing in good numbers.
A fairly standard set up is fine but on some days you may require a little extra distance if you are fishing on the Ramsgate side of the bay. A clipped down or pulley rig will work well on these days.
The standar range of baits all work well, from lug and rage worm to sand eels and crab.
Its worth taking a trip down to explore the bay at low water to get a good understanding of the bottom.
