Your guide to fishing in Kent
Fish Kent -
Herne Bay is where the fishing really starts on the North Kent Coast. The water is a little deeper and the bottom less muddy than the coastline of the Swale estuary.
There is ample parking all along the seafront with only a short walk needed. The new harbour wall near to the pier is a very popular sport to fish from. Bass, Codling and flaties are the most popular species. Mullet can also be caught from the harbour wall when conditions are perfect.
A bit further back along the coast towards Whitstable is Hampton Pier and sea wall. Again this is a popular spot to fish from with only a short cast needed to get you on the fish.
In most conditions a Paternoster rig with local lug worm will work well. The bottom is relatively free from snags but make sure you keep your rod high when fishing from the breakwater to avoid getting snagged on the rocks.
The nearest tackle shop is Ron Edwards Angling located on the high street.
