Alder lake is a good mixed lake with Carp to over 20lbs, all methods work well but scale back in hook size in the winter. Try to feed accurately rather than firing bait over a wide area. The stream can be seen in the top of the picture this is stocked with Carp and Pike to over 20lbs and makes a nice change from fishing the lakes.
The match canal is heavily stocked with smaller carp with most fish either caught on the inside line or against the far bank. The pole is the preferred method, keep plenty of feed going in via a pole cup with a light rig fished slightly over depth working well.
