Charlies Lake near Ashford is a great mixed fishery that will suit anglers of all abilities. The main lake is hugely popular with anglers looking to bag a specimen sized Carp or Catfish. Strong tackle is needed to handle the cats should you be lucky enough to hook one. Being heavily stocked with Carp they are used to pellet hook baits and feed. Don’t be afraid to fish very close in against the bank for the bigger fish, especially once the fishery is more quiet in the evening or at night.
The smaller lake makes is a good all round match style pond that is good for the kids as well as the more mature angler looking to keep a bend in his rod. Meat, corn and pellet all work well. Try to fish with a sensitive set up with a small amount of feed being put in each cast.
Charlies Lake on the outskirts of Ashford is a well established fishery containing some stunning fish. Stocked with specimen Carp and Catfish you have a genuine chance of landing a real monster from this fishery.
Day tickets are available from £10 per day for the match lake raising to £15 for the main lake.
